Please don't be! Making pictures of serious problems like suicide, depression, ADHD and anorexia is not about making fun of the issues - it's about being honest. Don't turn very real problems into taboos.
I have worked with troubled kids in my entire adult life and I have experienced the consequences of almost any mental illness, behaviourial difficulty and social problem that exists. I even grew up next to some of them.
I try to illustrate the truth, not only the sad parts. We still love the kids with these kinds of problems, because no matter how heartbreaking their problems are, there is also fun, charm and warmth inside them. Let's illustrate that too!
All images are staged, made with paid actors and with the full consent of everybody involved. Nobody was harmed before, during or after the shoot.
